This year, Wantirna Primary School is taking the initiative with the Digital Technologies Curriculum and offering a lunchtime ‘Coding Club’. Students develop their skills by planning and safely using information systems when creating their coding and communicating ideas and information. They define simple problems and design and develop digital solutions using algorithms. Through collaborative conversations, the students are able to explain how their developed coding meets their purpose.
At Wantirna Primary School this program is facilitated by Tas from Digimaster and supported by Miss Kath Faichney to assist students to use a variety of programs to learn the fundamentals of coding. Scratch, for example, encourages students to think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively to create interactive stories, games and animations.
