Our Principal's Report

Welcome to our first e-newsletter!

What an interesting week!  We began Week Four with Lockdown 3.0 and then ended the week with all sorts of Martial Arts fun and a very successful trip for five of our students to the District Swimming competition.

Whilst another lockdown proved to be a little bit of a frustration, as I know I for one was fully enjoying my new routine, it did provide an opportunity to stop, reflect and of course catch up on some administration work.

I hope that our families also enjoyed the opportunity to take a little bit of time out and spend some time together, in between working from home and the other mountain of commitments I'm sure you all have. I know our teaching staff purposely tried to avoid giving our students too much home learning to complete, in an attempt to keep things calm, cool and collected.  How grateful we all were to hear our students were returning to school Thursday!

Thursday I had the pleasure of accompanying Charlotte, Baylin, Jake, Mia, and Sarah to the District Swimming Competition at the Croydon Memorial Pool.  Whilst I'll include a special page later in this newsletter with photos and their results, I just wanted to mention here what excellent ambassadors they were for our school.  Resilience, mateship, positivity, teamwork and certainly good humour were some of the attributes demonstrated by our students during the event.  Thank you team for being such amazing people!  Thank you too to parents Leisa, Alicia, Richard and Annie for coming along as our cheersquad!

Another thank you to a very special person and volunteer, Annie, who for 3 years has been assisting in our junior classrooms, listening to students read and supporting them in their literacy acquisition.  Thank you Annie for all of the time you have spent supporting our students and staff.  We wish you well as you take a bit more time to focus on your own health and family.

Something to ponder:  How are you going with setting that goal?  Have you made a committment?  What is your WILL statement:

I will.......

Write it down somewhere where you will see it everyday and be reminded of your focus.  Try to ensure your goal is placing you within your Stretch Zone (i.e. it is just a little outside your comfort zone) and that it is something you can achieve in a 6 weeks or less.  This will maintain your enthusiasm.

Have you...?

List of current tasks for families
-  Filled in you ballot form for the School Council Parent Member election and returned it to school?

- Helped us out by providing two boxes of tissues and one ream of paper per child for use in class?

- Returned your parent and child information summary, ensuring your parent professions, child medical information and emergency contacts are up to date?

Martial Arts - Physical Education Sessions

A reflection on our Martial Arts sessions as a part of our PE program this week. This week we were fortunate to have a visit from Andy who is the owner of Kando Martial Arts.

Our student enjoyed the opportunity to try their hand at a different type of sporting activity.

A flyer will be sent home with children today if you are interested in in trying out Martial Arts as an extra-curricular activity.
